A man was hospitalized after being stabbed during a violent incident in Elizabeth on Sunday afternoon. 
Preliminary information indicated that officers were dispatched to the 200 block of 3rd Street just before 4:30 p.m. following reports of an aggravated assault in progress.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a man suffering from a stab wound to his shoulder.
Emergency medical personnel responded quickly and transported the victim to a nearby hospital. The victim’s injury was not reported as life-threatening.
At this time, Elizabeth police have not released the identity of the victim, and no information has been provided regarding a suspect or potential motive.
The incident has left the community concerned, as questions remain about whether the stabbing was a targeted attack or a random act of violence.
