Police in Newark are investigating an overnight shooting in the downtown area that left one man injured.
At approximately 3 a.m., officers responded to reports of a person injured in the 40 block of Branford Place.
Upon arrival, police discovered a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his back.
The man was transported to University Hospital, where he is receiving treatment and is reportedly in stable condition.
Newark’s Shooting Response Team was notified and is assisting with the investigation. Authorities have not yet identified a suspect, who remains at large.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
