Police in Asbury Park are investigating a shooting that left a male injured in a section of the city Tuesday night.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to reports of shots fire that rang our in the vicinity of 2 Atkins Avenue at approximately 10:30 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found a man bleeding from his chest after being struck by bullets at that location.
Police say EMS rushed the unidentified male to Jersey Shore Medical Center for treatment and remains in serious condition.
Officers investigating at the scene chased a possible suspect, but it is not clear if an apprehension was made.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
