Passaic County authorities reported that at approximately 7:13 a.m. on Sunday, the Passaic Police Department were dispatched to the area of Passaic Street and Third Street in the City of Passaic in response to a report of a stabbing.
Upon their arrival, officers toured the area and were directed to the backyard of a residence at 141 Passaic Street, where they located the victim, Mr. Richard Batista, 25, from Passaic, face-down on the ground.
Emergency medical personnel then arrived on the scene, and Mr. Batista was transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
