Police in Scotch Plains are investigating the cause of death of a man found dead inside an apartment in the city on Tuesday.
According to authorities, police responded to a report of an unconscious and unresponsive male in the 500 block of Park Avenue on this afternoon.
Scotch Plains Police contacted The Union County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Division to assist with the investigation when they could not determine the cause of death of the unidentified male.
Police also were observed searching a white BMW in the area before putting it onto a tow truck where it was subject to the investigation.
According to police officials, the Homicide Division was only called in as a precaution and no determination can be made as to the cause of death until the medical examiner completes an autopsy.
The identity of the deceased man has not been released.
The incident remains under investigation.
