Man Fatally Struck by NJ Transit Train in East Orange Station

Authorities are investigating a fatal incident involving a New Jersey Transit train that occurred Friday afternoon at the Brick Church station in East Orange.

According to a statement from NJ Transit, the incident took place at approximately 2:06 p.m. when Gladstone Branch train 424, en route to Hoboken, struck an adult male trespasser on the tracks. 

The train had departed from Gladstone at 12:56 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Hoboken at 2:29 p.m.

Emergency personnel responded swiftly to the scene, but the man was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries. 

Officials confirmed there were no injuries reported among the approximately 100 passengers and crew members aboard the train at the time of the incident.

Train service through Brick Church station was temporarily impacted, with residual delays expected as the investigation continued into the afternoon.

New Jersey Transit Police are leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal strike.
