Authorities in Newark are investigating a fatal shooting that happened overnight in the city.
Reports of shots fired rang out in the area of Orange Street at Roseville Avenue shortly before 10 p.m. sending police and EMS to the scene where they located a male victim inside a car suffering critical injuries from apparent gunfire.
The victim was transported to University Hospital where he suffered multiple gunshot wounds according to initial reports from the scene.
The man (reported to be in his early 30's) was pronounced dead at the hospital later in the night.
The investigation is being handled but the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.
There has been no arrests made at this time.
