Offcials have confirmed that a man who was found dead inside a school in Newark's West Ward was from a non-COVID 19 related medical condition and there was no foul play.
According to officials, at approximately 3:50 p.m., emergency responders were called to 142 Mount Vernon Place -Mount Vernon School- to investigate reports of an unconscious and unresponsive person inside the building.
Emergency responders arrived and found the victim who suffered ’what's believed to be’ a massive heart attack while working inside the building as a laborer.
Offcials say the man -around the age of 60- was pronounced dead a short time later.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has not announced an investigation into the incident.
There were no classes in session at the school during the incident. The school has been closed to students and teachers since March and is now on summer break.
