Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of Daren Joseph, 28, of Lauderhill, Florida on money laundering charges.
According to authorities, on March 16, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office conducted a motor vehicle stop in Fort Lee. The driver of the vehicle, Joseph, consented to the search of his vehicle where police seized $41,509.00 that was hidden in the liner of a suitcase.
Joseph was arrested without incident and charged with one count of Transporting or Possessing Property Believed to be Derived from Criminal Activity, in an Amount Greater than Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars but less than Seventy-Five Thousand Dollars in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:21-25A ,a Third Degree Crime.
Joseph was released on his own recognizance, pending a first appearance in the Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court.
