Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and East Orange Police Chief William C. Robinson announced today that Antonio McCrimmon, 21, of Newark has been arrested and charged with the murder of Tyeshia S. Obie, 21, of East Orange. Obie was fatally shot while sitting in a car in the 200 block of North Maple Avenue in East Orange on Jan. 5. McCrimmon is charged with murder and weapons offenses.
The investigation is active and ongoing and other arrests are expected, according to Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas S. Fennelly. McCrimmon is currently being held at the Essex County Correctional Facility. Bail was set at $750,000 by the Honorable Michael L. Ravin, Judge of the Superior Court. No other information is available at this time. These are accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
