Police announced that a 47-year-old Bayonne man wanted in several states was caught breaking into a car Tuesday.
According to police, officers in the area of Newman Avenue and West Seventh Street noticed a man rummaging through a white BMW sedan Tuesday sometime around 4 a.m.. When officers approached the male, later identified as Miguel A. Sanchez Jr., he confirmed that the car did not belong to him.
Despite Sanchez’s attempt to flee, he was quickly apprehended.
Authorities ultimately determined Sanchez was also involved in four additional vehicle burglaries after he was allegedly found in possession of numerous items that were taken from the vehicles.
Police charged Sanchez with five counts of burglary, two counts of theft, and one count of obstructing a governmental function. In addition, police charged Sanchez with four counts of being a fugitive from justice in Detroit (breaking and entering), Pennsylvania (burglary, failure to appear), and Florida.
A judge ordered Sanchez to be remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility until his hearing which is scheduled for Tuesday.
