Police officials in Newark are reporting the arrest of **Mr. George Wormley, 40, of Newark**, for an incident of illegal dumping that occurred between Friday, August 11th.
In a statement released by Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose, members of his Illegal Dumping Task Force responded to the area of Peshine Avenue and Lawton Street on complaints by a concerned citizen of illegal dumping.
Director Ambrose said police observed a white pickup truck in the area with its driver dumping filled trash bags, mattresses, boxes and other materials beginning at approximately 10 p.m.
Residents told Director Ambrose that they observed the same vehicle dumping refuse in the area on previous occasions.
Detectives developed sufficient evidence to identify **Mr.George Wormley** as a suspect of this illegal dumping when they arrested him last night (Thursday) without incident.
Detectives charged Mr. Wormley with Illegal Dumping and Illegal Transport of Solid Waste.
The vehicle used to carry the dumped materials was towed and is subject to seizure by forfeiture Director Ambrose said.
These charges lodged against Mr. Wormly are mere accusations.
He is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Director Ambrose said since the inception of the Illegal Dumping Task Force in June, officers placed 39 individuals under arrest.
