Authorities in Passaic County announced based upon an investigation by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office and the Paterson Police Department Shooting Investigation Unit, Marquay T. Crawford, 21-years-old from Paterson, was arrested on September 25, in connection to the shooting that took place on June 28, in the area of Mill Street and Market Street, Paterson.
Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes stated Mr. Crawford is charged with Attempted Murder, first-degree, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, second-degree, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, second-degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, third-degree.
Officials said at approximately 10:51 p.m. on June 28, the Paterson Police Department was dispatched to the area of Mill Street and Market Street on a report of a shooting.
While on the scene, officials say, Paterson Police located a 56-year-old male victim from Paterson.
The victim was transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center for treatment of a non-fatal gunshot wound. Authorities say that members of the Paterson Police Department were able to locate a potential crime scene.
The subsequent investigation revealed that Mr. Crawford was responsible for the shooting, officials stated.
According to officials, on September 25, 2024, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Mr. Crawford was arrested by the New Jersey State Police, without incident, in the area of Riverfront Boulevard and River Road in Elmwood Park, New Jersey.
These investigations remain active and ongoing, officials said.
