The suspect, Mr. Evan R. Gonzalez, 27, of West Milford, also entered the diner, throwing items around before leaving.

Officer Robert Thompson located Gonzalez walking on Hamburg Turnpike.

As Officer Thompson approached in his marked police car, Gonzalez threw a large rock, smashing the windshield.

Gonzalez then walked in the roadway, prompting officers to stop traffic and attempt to control him.

Despite commands to stop, Gonzalez resisted, displaying a threatening demeanor.

After a struggle, officers managed to handcuff Gonzalez, who continued to act aggressively, spitting on Officers Robert Meichsner and Evelyn Tam.

A spit hood was placed on him, and he was transported to a hospital for evaluation. Cleared by the hospital, he was taken to Wayne Police Headquarters, where he continued his aggressive behavior, necessitating another trip to the hospital.
