Police in Newark arrested of** Zion J. Lewis, 18, of Newark**, for possession of a handgun on Sunday according to a press release sent by authorities.
According to the press release, at approximately 2:45 p.m., Newark Police responded to a call of shots fired in the 400-block of South 17th Street where officers' arrived and searched the area. There were no victims found .
Major Crimes Detectives developed evidence that Lewis was the person responsible for discharging the gun.
Lewis was arrested yesterday (Wednesday) and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
This charge is merely an accusation.
The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
