Man Arrested for Passaic Homicide

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Passaic Police Chief Luis Guzman announce that based upon an investigation by the Passaic Police Department, in conjunction with the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, Oscar Flores, 38, from Passaic, was arrested Thursday night in relation to a homicide that took place in the area of Dayton Avenue and Parker Avenue in the City of Passaic. Mr. Flores is charged with one count of first-degree Murder.

According to a statement released by authorities, on April 19, 2018, at approximately 7:26 p.m., police were called to the scene of an empty lot in the area of Dayton Avenue and Parker Avenue in response to the discovery of a body.

Upon their arrival, police located a deceased adult male victim, with what appeared to be head and facial injuries.

The investigation subsequently revealed that Mr. Flores and the victim engaged in a verbal and physical altercation on Saturday, April 14th police say.

During the altercation, the defendant allegedly pushed the victim to the ground and kicked him in the head multiple times. It was later determined that the victim died as a result of the head injuries he suffered.

Oscar Flores is scheduled to appear at Central Judicial Processing on Saturday, April 21st at 1:30, p.m. where The State will file a motion for pretrial detention in this matter that will be heard by a Superior Court Judge.

A criminal complaint is merely an accusation. Despite this accusation, defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
