Man Arrested at Newark Airport for Transporting 45 Explicit Images of Abused Minors

Acting U.S. Attorney Vikas Khanna announced that a Wilmington, North Carolina, man has been charged with transporting and possessing videos and images of abused minors.  https://troyewilliams.legalshieldassociate.com/legalAccording to federal officials, Barry Grant Bevier, 61, of Wilmington, North Carolina, faces charges by complaint for one count of transportation of explicit images of minors and one count of possession of explicit images of minors.  

Bevier appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Stacey D. Adams in Newark federal court today and was ordered detained.  

As stated in court documents and proceedings:  

On November 26, 2024, Bevier returned from an international trip on a flight that arrived at Newark Liberty International Airport.  

Upon his arrival, law enforcement officers conducted a search of Bevier’s cell phone, uncovering approximately forty-five photographs and twenty-one videos containing material depicting abused minors.  

Authorities also discovered multiple photographs and videos of explicit images of minors that Bevier had personally taken, including a “selfie” featuring himself alongside one of the victims.  

The charge of transporting explicit images of minors carries a statutory mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison, with a maximum possible sentence of 20 years.  

The possession charge also carries a potential maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. 

Additionally, each count includes a fine of up to $250,000 or twice the financial gain or loss resulting from the offense, whichever amount is greater.
