Authorities in Hudson County announced that on Monday, May 8, members of the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that occurred in Jersey City on Sunday, March 5.
According to officials, Arley Ulloa, of Bayonne, is charged with one count of Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Collision Resulting in Death, a crime of the second degree.
Officials said he was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus and released pending his first court appearance, which is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, May 30.
At approximately 12:31 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck in the area of Stegman Avenue and Garfield Avenue.
According to Police, responding officers located a male victim – later identified as Ralph Haynes, 55, of Jersey City – with life-threatening injuries.
Police say the striking vehicle did not remain at the scene.
Emergency Medical Services transported him to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 3:38 p.m.
