Police apprehended a male suspect after he refused to stop for NJ State Police overnight.
The pursuit happened at around 12:15 a.m. while officers attempted to pull the vehicle over when it sped off.
The pursuit ended in the area of Route 1&9 at Hayes Avenue where the suspect bailed from the vehicle initiating a foot pursuit.
Officers from Newark, Elizabeth, NJ State Police and a search helicopter combed through the area looking for the assailant when they spotted him a short distance from where he bailed from the vehicle.
The suspect was placed into custody then turned over to NJ State Police.
There were no injuries immediately reported.
