There is an active search for a man who police said attacked his ex-girlfriend the carjacked her in Newark over the weekend.
Authorities in Newark are requesting the public’s assistance in finding **Darnell Starks, 26, of Newark** in connection with a carjacking that occurred on Saturday, December 17, 2016.
Police said, at approximately 11 p.m. on that evening, a 23-year-old Newark woman was sitting in her vehicle with Starks, her ex-boyfriend.
The two engaged in a verbal altercation when he violently attacked her, then pushed her out of the vehicle, speeding from the scene.
Police recovered the vehicle, a 2005 Pontiac Grand Am, on Irvine Turner Boulevard a short time later.
Starks is considered "dangerous" by authorities and ask the public to assist in locating him.
