Man Accused of Scamming Passenger at Newark Airport Arrested

A 43-year-old man accused of scamming another passenger at Newark Liberty International Airport into giving him $200 was taken into custody.

Officials say Tuesday Borovetz told a 55-year-old man from the Princeton Junction section of West Windsor that his flight had been canceled and that he needed money for a hotel.

The victim reportedly withdrew $200 from an ATM and gave it to Borovetz but soon became suspicious and notified police.

Port Authority police arrested Michael H. Borovetz, of Pittsburgh, on Thursday afternoon at the Marriott near the airport.

Officials charged Borovetz with theft by deception and is due in court April 17th.
