A man is in critical condition after being shot in Long Branch on Monday evening.
Police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of 224 3rd Avenue at approximately 7:45 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers found the male victim unconscious and unresponsive, suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck.
Emergency responders administered CPR at the scene before rushing the severely injured victim to a local medical center for treatment.
His current condition remains critical.
The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office has been notified, and the motive for the shooting is under active investigation as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The area was taped off for investigation and police are continuing their search for leads.
