One person was transported to University Hospital suffering a gunshot wound in Newark late Thursday evening.
It happened in the area of 211 Thomas Street before 10:30 p.m.
Officers arrived at the scene and found the victim suffering a bullet wound after a ShotSpotter device activated in the area.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation and no other injuries were reported.
