Late last night, emergency medical services rushed a male gunshot victim to University Hospital following a shooting incident in Newark.Police were called to the scene at 769 South 20th Street after reports of gunfire in the area just before 10:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a male suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck.
The immediate vicinity, located a short distance from Springfield Avenue, was quickly cordoned off as police conducted a thorough search for evidence and any additional victims.
After canvassing the neighborhood, authorities confirmed that no other injuries were reported.
The shooting resulted in property damage, with both a vehicle and a house struck by bullets.
The suspect responsible for the shooting fled the scene and remains at large. As of 4:45 a.m., the condition of the victim was listed as serious.
Police have yet to determine a motive for the shooting as the investigation continues.
