Authorities in Newark are looking for a suspect wanted for a shooting that injured a person in the Central Ward Tuesday night.
A preliminary investigation indicated that at approximately 8:40 p.m., police responded to reports of a ShotSpotter activation near 16 Cabinet Street.
Units arrived on the scene and found several shell casings, but no victims were located during their search.
While detectives investigated the scene, officials at University Hospital notified police when a male victim entered the emergency room suffering a gunshot wound.
Police believe the victim was injured at the Cabinet Street shooting scene.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation and no arrests have been reported.
