UPDATE 1:22 p.m: The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed a fatality.
Police are reporting serious injuries for a male struck by gunfire in Jersey City this afternoon.
At approximately 12:25 p.m., police responded to reports of shots fired in the vicinity of Crescent and Belmont avenues.
Units arrived and found the victim suffering gunshot wounds at that location.
The injured was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment then pronounced dead.
The suspect fled the scene and has not been arrested at this time.
