Police have a crime scene established in Newark’s Central Ward while detectives investigate a shooting with one person injured Sunday morning.
A ShotSpotter device was activated in the area of 48 Irvine Turner Boulevard and alerted police of a shooting around 11:30 a.m.
Several units arrived and found a male suffering a bullet wound in his leg.
He was transported to University Hospital for treatment in stable condition.
Witnesses said the gunman was armed with an Uzi and fired shots at the victim.
The suspect fled the scene and has not been captured at this time. Newark Police will handle the investigation.
