A male gunshot victim suffered serious injuries after being shot in Newark Wednesday morning.
A preliminary investigation indicated that at approximately 1:10 a.m., officials at University Hospital notified police when a male victim entered the emergency department suffering a gunshot wound.
The victim was dropped off at the medical center by private vehicle.
A short time earlier, police responded to the area of South 9th Street and 12th Avenue after a ShotSpotter device activated, alerting police of gunfire in the neighborhood.
Police reportedly located a crime scene, but no other victims were found during their search.
Authorities reported no arrests in the shooting.
