The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office is leading an investigation into a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a man in Paterson on Monday afternoon.
Authorities were alerted to the incident after a ShotSpotter activation detected gunfire near Mercer Street and Franklin Street just before 12:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, police found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the face.
Emergency medical services quickly transported the victim to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 1 p.m.
The suspect fled the scene and remains at large.
Officials have not yet determined the motive behind the shooting, and the investigation is ongoing.
No additional injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
