NJ Transit Police officials said at approximately 12:19 p.m., Gladstone Branch train 417, which departed Hoboken at 11:36 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Gladstone at 1:16 p.m., struck and fatally injured a male near the east end of the platform at the Short Hills Station.
Officials said no injuries were reported to the 20 customers and crew on board.
Currently, Morris and Essex Line and Gladstone Branch rail service is subject to up to 30-minute delays in both directions.
New Jersey Transit Police are leading the investigation.
