Police reported one person injured in a shooting in Newark's upper West Ward on Sunday.
The late-night shooting happened around 11:17 p.m. in the area of Alexander and Lindsley avenues.
Residents dialed 911 after they heard multiple rounds of gunfire in the community.
According to preliminary reports, officers scrambled to the scene and found evidence that a shooting had occurred, but no victim was located.
Irvington Police joining in the search around the border, assisted Newark in locating the victim in the area of Carolina Avenue and University Place suffering non-fatal injuries.
Two crime scenes were set up to investigate the motive for the shooting.
The suspect fled the scene and has not been captured.
