The Bergen County Prosecutors Office was notified of a pedestrian strike that killed a person on a highway in Ramsey Thursday morning.
Police said shortly before 12:40 a.m., emergency responders rushed to the vicinity of 1358 NJ-17 to investigate reports of an injured person.
Upon arrival, police found a severely injured, unconscious and unresponsive person lying on the ground at that location.
A preliminary investigation indicated that the victim was struck by a vehicle, according to reports.
Medical professionals pronounced the unidentified victim dead at the scene.
Police closed off a portion of the highway for the investigation.
There were no other injuries reported.
