Police are investigating a pedestrian strike that had a US Mail delivery person injured in Newark on Friday.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to 15th Avenue before 6:30 p.m. after they received reports of a person struck by a car at that location.
Police and EMS arrived at the scene and found the male victim suffering serious injuries according to reports.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office could not confirm fatal injuries after there were several online reports that the man had died.
Officials say the investigation is being handled by The Newark Police Department.
