A shoplifting incident inside the Woodbridge Mall left a security officer stabbed this evening according to police.
Police say they took five suspects into custody after tracking them down during a pursuit a short distance from the mall.
Police say the loss prevention officer in Macy's was stabbed to the arm but the injury was non-life threatening.
According to police, a tourniquet was applied to the stabbing victim's arm by EMT’S, and the victim was taken to Robert Wood Johnson in New Brunswick for further treatment.
A Woodbridge Center Mall spokesperson confirmed that there was an incident Sunday at Macy's, but said there was no impact on small activity.
The incident remains under investigation.
