Authorities are attempting to understand the motive behind a stabbing that seriously injured a man in Long Branch overnight.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to Monmouth Medical Center after a male victim entered the emergency department suffering a stab wound to the chest.
Police arrived at the hospital and were pointed in the direction of Wilson Projects on Garrett Drive according to reports.
The victim's injuries were not immediately reported as life-threatening and police have not reported an arrest in the incident.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
