Lodi School Security Officer Saves Choking Student

Lodi

A Lodi school security officer saved a choking student after performing the Heimlich maneuver.

On Dec. 23 at approximately 12 p.m., Lodi School Security Officer William Byrnes was working at the Washington School.

While SSO Byrnes was in the school office, the secretary was alerted to a student who was choking in room 24.

SSO Byrnes could see that the student was choking and when he asked the student if he was choking the student indicated to SSO Byrnes yes.

SSO Byrnes then performed the Heimlich maneuver on the student and after two thrusts the object was dislodged.

At this point the victim was able to breathe freely again. The victim was checked by the nurse and required no further medical attention.

Great job Lodi School Security Officer William Byrnes.
