Linden Police Sergeant Charged with Distribution of Marijuana

Linden

A sergeant with the Linden Police Department has been criminally charged following a narcotics investigation, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park announced Thursday.

William F. Turbett III, 30, is charged with fourth-degree distribution of marijuana as well as possession of marijuana, a disorderly persons offense.

Members of the Prosecutor’s Office’s Guns, Gangs, Drugs, and Violent Crimes Task Force and the Sayreville Police Department Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at Turbett’s home on Merritt Avenue in Sayreville Wednesday night, during which a small amount of marijuana was seized.

Turbett’s girlfriend, 22-year-old Nicolette Hendrickson of Sayreville, was also present at the home and was charged with disorderly-persons possession of marijuana. Both she and Turbett were charged via summons and released on their own recognizance.

Turbett had been suspended from duty without pay for an unrelated matter prior to when these charges were filed.

The Linden Police Department cooperated with the Prosecutor’s Office during the course of its investigation.

Convictions on fourth-degree crimes are commonly punishable by terms ranging from probation up to 18 months in state prison.
