LINDEN MAN DEAD IN PARKWAY CRASH

Preliminary investigation revealed that at 3:46 a.m. a GMC driving southbound on the Garden State Parkway in Clark was in the middle lane shortly before striking a Toyota Celica. The Toyota ended on the left side of the road where it struck a concrete barrier and re-enter roadway. As Toyota re-entered road it was struck a second time by a Cadillac, said Trooper Jeff Flynn.

The GMC's driver, 18-year-old Brittany Echevarria of Cranford and 22-year old Hector Gomez of Linden were airlifted to University Hospital in Newark. Jason Star, 37, of Asbury Park, driver of the Cadillac, was taken to University Hospital by ambulance.

Both Echevarria and Star suffered non-life threatening injuries, Flynn said.

Gomez who was found in the roadway, unclear if he was ejected or he got out of the vehicle himself, was pronounced dead at University Hospital at 4:44 this morning. 

Both Gomez and Echevarria were airlifted to University hospital.
