Police in Linden arrested resident Mr. Isaiah Joachim, 20, for weapons and drug distribution in a city park Monday.
According to police, at about 8:00 p.m., officers approached a group of men suspected of smoking marijuana in St. Mark’s Park.
As the Officers approached, Joachim allegedly reached into his waistband and discarded what was later determined to be a semi-automatic handgun and a quantity of suspected cocaine.
Joachim is charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a firearm while committing a CDS offense, and distribution of cocaine in a park zone, fourth-degree possession of a high capacity magazine, and other associated drug charges.
Additionally, Nanley Losier, 31, also of Linden, was arrested and is charged with third-degree possession of MDMA.
Joachim was remanded to the Union County Jail. Losier was charged on a summons and released pending an appearance in Superior Court.
