A man was arrested Monday afternoon after his passenger pointed a paintball gun at a teen pedestrian in Linden.
Police responded to E. Elm Street and Conklin Place on a report of shots fired at approximately 4:47 p.m. Monday.
Officers spoke to a witness who told them a tan Honda driving the wrong way on Conklin Place had the passenger of the vehicle leaning out of the car window, pointing a handgun at a teen walking down the street, Captain James Sarnicki said today.
The teen then ran, and the Honda sped away headed east on E. Elm Street, added the captain.
After a radio broadcast of the vehicle was made, officers stopped a tan Honda on the 1400 block of Roselle Street with four occupants.
Officers spoke to the driver and conducted a search of the vehicle, which produced two ER2 paintball guns in the trunk, which were charged and ready to fire.
The driver, Francois C. Abernathy, 19 of Linden, was arrested and charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon.
He was released after posting $2,500 bail and has a court date set for July 8th.
The other occupants were not charged, however, the investigation is continuing.
