The Linden Fire Department responded to the 300 block of Helen Street at approximately 7:23 this morning for report of a a structure fire.
Upon arrival, responding fire companies found heavy smoke coming from the second floor and attic.
Searches were conducted to ensure no one was still inside the building. The five occupants and pets of the home self evacuated and where moved into the John T Gregorio Center across the street until the Red Cross arrived to assist the tenants.
After extinguishing the fire, crews conducted overhaul operations to make sure the fire did not spread to other parts of the structure. Crews also took measures to protect the contents and property of the tenants.
At this point, the fire appears to have started in one of the bedroom and is currently under investigation by the Linden Fire Department’s Fire Investigation unit.
No injuries were reported.
