Firefighters in Wayne Township responded to an incident this afternoon where lightning struck a building at the Willowbrook Mall.
Emergency responders were called to Dave and Buster’s after reports of smoke coming from the roof of the building, located near BJ’s Wholesale, shortly before 4:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered evidence that the building had indeed been struck by lightning.
Fortunately, no one inside was injured. Initial reports indicated that one person was rescued from an elevator that lost power, possibly due to the lightning strike.
The Wayne Township Building Inspector arrived at the scene to assess the damage to the building.
The situation was swiftly brought under control by emergency responders.
