Emergency responders Monday at approximately 7:20 a.m. responded to Port Authority Bus Terminal at 42nd Street and Eighth Avenue near Times Square for a report of a explosion.
Police shortly after, learned Akayed Ullah, 27 - who was allegedly wearing a homemade pipe bomb - appears unintentionally detonated the explosive in the underground walkway that connects two subway lines.
Police said Ullah was transported to Bellevue Hospital with lacerations and burns to his hands and abdomen. There were three others who transported to Mount Sinai West and Mount Sinai Queens with complaints of headaches and ringing in the ears.
The incident remains under investigation but at this time police belief the attack appears to be isolated.
