An investigation is underway into an overnight stabbing that has a woman fighting for her life in Jersey City this morning.
According to initial reports, shortly before 8 p.m., police were called to the 30's block of Mall Drive on reports of a stabbing in progress at the Newport Centre Mall.
Arriving units located a female victim suffering injury after being attacked by a male suspect who was armed with (what witnesses said) a hatchet.
The woman was transported to Jersey City Medical Center where she suffered life threatening stab injuries.
It is not known what caused the suspect to go on the attack at this time.
There were no arrests immediately reported.
