Mercer County law enforcement officials are investigating a violent shooting encounter that left a man severely injured in Trenton Sunday.
The early morning incident happened around 2:10 a.m. in the vicinity of 166 Brunswick Avenue.
The investigation indicated that at approximately 2:10 a.m., police responded to reports of shots fired in the community.
Upon arrival, police found the victim suffering a massive head wound after gunfire struck him in his head at that location.
The victim was rushed to the regional medical center for treatment and was reportedly in 'grave' condition as of 4:15 a.m.
The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office was notified and responded to the scene to assist the investigation.
No other injuries were reported.
