A motorcyclist was rushed to University Hospital after a crash that occurred on a highway in newark Saturday morning.
According to police, the violent collision occurred in the southbound lanes of Route 1&9 near I-78 at approximately 3:10 a.m.
Emergency responders arrived to find a severely injured, unconscious and unresponsive motorcyclist lying on the ground after crashing at that location.
The condition of the victim has only been reported as life-threatening at this time.
According to the NJ Department of Transportation, as of 3:34 a.m., there's was a crash investigation on US 1&9 express lanes southbound area of I-78 in Newark. All lanes were closed and detoured.
Investigators are trying to determine what exactly caused the crash.
