EMS transported one person to University Hospital suffering critical injuries after being stabbed in Newark overnight.
Police responded to the area of Washington Street at Maiden Lane shortly after midnight on reports of an injured person at that location.
Officers arrived to the scene to find the victim reportedly stabbed multiple time in the upper torso.
The victim was rushed to the hospital where their injuries were reported to be life threatening as of early this morning.
Police setup a crime scene in the area and are investigating the motive for the stabbing.
There were no arrests immediately reported.
