A recent increase of landscaping equipment theft has police urging residents to take extra steps to secure equipment.
According to police, in the last two weeks officers have received reports of overnight thefts of landscaper’s trucks and trailers from storage yards in the areas of Stanley Terrace and Rahway Avenue.
Police have recovered several stolen trucks in Newark, but equipment such as blowers, mowers, etc. remain missing.
Officials encourage landscapers to take the following steps as added measures of securing their trucks and property:
* Install GPS trackers, cameras, alarms,
* Put a name or phone number on the tools or lawn equipment
