On September 28, 2024, Newark will once again host Khem Fest, a dynamic celebration of Black excellence in animation, gaming, and comic book creation, marking its 10th anniversary.
Held at Heritage Hall, the festival promises an immersive experience blending technology, creativity, and Afrofuturism, offering attendees a day filled with inspiration and engagement.
According to Mr. Naseed Gifted, the event's organizer, Khem Fest aims to honor the talent of Black creators and their contributions to Afrofuturism.
"We are thrilled to present KAFF Replay, an event that celebrates the richness and diversity of Afrofuturism," Gifted stated.
"Through a range of events, panels, and activities, we hope to inspire, educate, and empower individuals."
The festival will feature a host of captivating events, including the Khem Animation Film Festival (KAFF), which will showcase over 14 short films from animators worldwide.
One of the key highlights, Breaking Boundaries: Black Women in Animation and Gaming, will spotlight the contributions of Black women to these industries and offer attendees the opportunity to hear firsthand from trailblazing female creators.
The event will also feature the Animated Visions Showcase, where creators will pitch their animated projects to industry insiders. For those interested in animation as a craft, a seminar on Animation Film Development will provide insights from experts, helping attendees deepen their understanding of the field's latest innovations.
In a truly unique experience, the festival will close with The Future is Black: Tesla Light Show, an awe-inspiring display merging technology and the cultural allure of Wakanda.
