Hudson County authorities are investigating a shooting in Kearny that left a woman injured in the city overnight.
Officials at the University Hospital in Newark contacted authorities when a female victim was transported by private vehicle and dropped off at the hospital's emergency department.
Newark authorities checked several locations in the city before determining that the woman was shot in Kearny.
Reports of shots fired rang out in the area of Kearny Avenue and Hoyt Street shortly before 2 a.m. sending cops to the scene where officers located evidence of a shooting but no victim was immediately located.
The woman reportedly suffered a gunshot wound to the neck and in the arms according to reports.
The extent of the victim's injuries have not been released.
The motive for the shooting has not been released though sources say that this may have been a robbery gone wrong.
Police are continuing to investigate.
